After spending eight days volunteering to teach English to Spaniards with Diverbo (more on that later), Ben and I were looking forward to some rest in San Sebastian. Rest isn’t exactly what we got in the gorgeous “Up all night” city, but we did manage to get a nice ~10 km hike in from San Sebastian to the tiny town of Pasajes San Juan.
The lush green landscape is reminiscent of Northern California, except with better weather. We started the hike just north of Playa Zurriola and went straight up for several kilometers. After hiking for about 2 hours we took the ferry (€ .70 each) to the town of Pasajes for some lunch.
- Gorgeous view of San Sebastian (no photoshop necessary)
- Up we go!
- Stair climbing masters
- Spain or NorCal?
- Follow the signs
- Don’t try this at home!
- View towards Pasajes
- Basque flag
- Ferry to Pasajes
- Main plaza of Pasajes
- Basque flags everywhere
Hi Sara, are you still in San Sebastián? I have a similar story to you, i quit my job in marketing to travel Europe solo from California, love to meet for sangria or hear any advice/ must eat at restaurants in the area. Cheers! Katie
Sadly I’m back in the States now. Have a great time!
